September 11, 2010 is the 2nd annual 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance. Greater DC Cares will support this effort by engaging more than 5,500 volunteers in the region, cleaning parks, serving meals to the hungry, restoring our national monuments, spend time with seniors, and much more! Individuals and organizations who answer the call to action will rekindle the spirit of service felt by so many around 9/11/01.

Issue Area: Education/People with Disabilities
Sharpe Health School is a school that services about 113 students with multiple disabilities. Most of the students receive certificates of completion. Their program services students beginning at age three through age 22. Much of their program is developed to support independent living skills and work experiences that will transition their students to retain employment once they leave Sharpe Health.
Projects Include:
● Volunteers will help with landscaping, painting indoor murals and outdoor games, and the construction of benches.
